s10 engine swap
Ok, so my friend wants to swap a 5.3 in his 03 s10 whenever he hits 100k miles. If he gets an engine with the accessories, what other parts does he need? I can only think of the ecu, but I know there are other electrical parts. Also his truck is a manual. Should I convert it to a auto or get a t56(if it could be done). Would I be able to use the stock rearend?
This is all **** being thrown in the air, this wont happen for a year or two at least. So I havent begun to plan anything. And I did tell him to just trade in for a silverado, but he doesnt want to do that and I can understand. It would be badass to see it do the 1/4. So could you help me out a little?
(p.s. when I say friend, I mean my friend and not me )

I’m swapping a LQ9 6.0l into my 96 Bravada, 4l65e and the bravada T case. Most of the same things apply. You are going to need to use F-body or Corvette Accessories, Truck accessories stick out to far. You need to be able to fit electric fans in there somewhere. You have to have a C5 alternator bracket, f-body alternator interferes with the steering gear. So this means you need C5 power steering lines and reservoir. You can use F-body crank pulley and a/c. You just need to shim out the alt bracket about 3/4 of an inch, or you can just use C5 everything. F-body and C5 water pumps are the same, the belt just rides further back on a C5 pump, but the belt tensioner is different. Frame rail has to be notched out for the a/c to fit, and custom lines need to be made. As for the oil pan you need to either modify a truck or an f body pan, or you can just cut the cross brace to fit the truck pan. You could do an auto or a 6 speed, I don’t know too much about doing a 6 speed swap but if his truck is already a manual I don’t see it being hard at all.
