Scratching gears in truck?!

Default Scratching gears in truck?!

I raced a friend today in a 01 silverado rc/sb and while I was pulling on him I heard a chirp at about 40-50mph and didn't think anything of it. When we pulled over to talk about the race he said "damn you scratched that thing in 3rd gear!" I don't know if I did or not. Have any of you guys scratched in third before?

I can tell you if their is any kind of bump or uneven spot when that gears switched you can chirp due to the back end moving around. That's the only way I can do it atleast.

I chirp my 1st to 2nd change every once inawhile. It's usually on smooth pavement and when it's cool out.

I agree though, if you have an auto you definately were not going into 3rd at 50mph @ WOT.

yeah I bet it wasn't a third either. Could it have been a 2nd gear scratch?

I know MUDZ53 chirped second in his 4x4 extended cab at the track, and he still has Torque management. He did install the servo's (several times, lol J/K) and it shifted its *** off on the 1-2 shift. I don't know about the 2-3 as he was 1/4 mile away when it shifted.

Thanks badmofo, jerk! j/k Yeah I chirp hard in second during wot runs. I can be half throttle and chirp 1-2. I haven't been able to do third yet but for some reason I get a belt squeal going into third though, kinda wierd. Oh and I don't have a washer in the 2nd accumulator.
