Are you talking about your shift servos?? Those are easy. Just drain the fluid if you can with out taking the pan off. If not just take the pan off and then you can drain it. I would go ahead and replace the filter while you where at it. Then you have to servo at the back of the tranny behind the valve body. I think that it is a T-30 Torqz bit. Just unhook the electrical connection and replace. the clean the pan and the magnet. Put it all back together and add fluid.

Uhmm .... shift servo's are on the side of the tranny just above the catalytic converter behind the heat shield.

Drop the Y-pipe, remove the heat shield (2 10mm bolts). Now you will see a hat looking thing on the side of the tranny. Push it in by prying on it. Remove the snap ring that is in the grove with a flat blade screwdriver. Get a smaller screwdriver and a pair of channel locks. Pull and twist the hat looking thing off, at the same time stick that screwdriver in the O-ring and pull on it. The idea here is to pull the O-ring down so it stretches it out making the sides where it seals non-existant. Once you get the cover off, pull the pin out of the hole. There is an E-clip on the end of it so that all the stuff will come out together. The end you see and pull on, is not held together, so pull it out carefully and remember the order which you take everything off. There is a spring that goes inside the tranny when you stick it back in there, so make sure you have it.

Just put everything back in there the way it came out. You need to replace the O-ring on the cover though, no questions about it, replace it.

I think what LS1Kenny was thinking about is the 1-2 accumolator.

You will have to mess with it during a shift kit install.

A shift kit, I'd recommend the Transgo, would help a ton!

be carefull with hard shifts as the plastic accumulator housing will crack.
if this happens it will bogg just after shifting into second for a second or two then pick up again and take off. the fix for this is to buy a billit accumulator housing. you should be able to get one from trans go, or any aftermarket transmission shop.

cant remember if the trans go shift kit comes with this fix or not. but trust me from experiance you dont want neck snapping shifts just quick firm ones.

What he said .... shifts that are to harsh will tear a tranny apart. This happened with a $1800 tranny that I had built and the builder liked the neck snapping shifts cause he thought they were kewl. I complained about them and he talked me into leaving them like that. 2700 miles on that transmission and it had snapped the input shaft.

You want the shifts as firm and quick as you can get them without breaking the tires loose.

about how much are the trans go kits? How hard are they to install? I've never messed with trannys before, What do you think? I can do pretty much everthing else but never messed with trannys though.

They usually run about 110. Get one .. watch the video twice, then decide if you wanna mess with it. If you still can't decide ... watch the video again.

After the first time watching the video I said no way, I talked to some ppl and they wanted to wait to long. I watched the video again and thought it wouldn't be to terribly hard. I watched it again and was convinced I could do it. I got it in there and it works fine now.
