Setting TM to respectable levels?

I am in no way easy on my truck though, and I'll have the converter and a smallish torque cam in by mid July. I also drive at least 30K miles a year.
Just trying to be cautious, and still have some fun.

Yeah I see lots fried with BIG power, nothing really N/A or bolt on. That seems to take a while.
Hell 99silver5.3 (Mr Milk and Cereal ) hasn't had TqMgt in over a year I think too.

Thanks!
Thanks!
The filter is really a screen, it keeps metal filings from getting into the valve body only. I change it every 30K, it's like $15 for gasket and filter. It's not necessary to change it too often IMO. Keeping the fluid clean is more important to me. Last time I changed it was around 50K.
Draining the pan on my Z71 takes ~4 qts or so. If you drop the pan, it's usually a few more as the filter holds some. I dunno how many on your 4L80E and if you have a deeper pan or not. Rememer to get the old O-ring from the case BEFORE sticking the new filter in there.
I always have extra fluid around my garage. So I'd prolly get 8-12qts to be safe. Just use some Dexron III/Mercon. I get it from Pimp Boyz or O'Reilly.
Add ~4qts and start it up to get warm. Add a lil at a time to get the level just right. Too much can foam and that's bad, too little and you'll starve the tranny and lose line pressure.
For some laughs...the deep B&M pan on my F150 takes 8qts to drain and fill the pan only!

I will give it a whirl tonight. I will probably just pull the plug and drain it. If for some odd reason there is no plug (like my old S-10) I will pull the pan.
From what I remember the tranny will hold a lot more than just what drains. So I will do it in another 10-15k or so again. Thanks for the advice!

If it has a drain plug, it's a bitch to get out w/o an impact. You may have to drop the pan regardless FYI.
Not a problem on the advice!
