have you ever done one?be real carefull pulling the valve body off, it has check ***** on it that if the roll off you f#$@^^, not trying to say you dont know what you are doing. it was simple to me, but thats me. i dont really know anything about the control box as i dont have one, never had to drop my trans just took the trans pan off and everything was right there.mine was a B&M shift improvement kit

More than likely, yes, it will void it.
....But if you happen to know someone at the dealership that will fix you up or slip them a nice tip, then probably.

i haven't had any problems out of mine. i have a 99 silverado with about 121,000 miles with the shift kit from B&M put in at about 80,000 miles. and the 1-2 shift still chirps the 255/16's.

01 Thunder,the control box splices two wires into the wiring harnest of the trans.Then hook the power and ground up and its ready to go.Jet says its better to have the shift kit and the box installed together,but i can use the box only.http://www.jetchip.com/look at online cataloge and there is a pic.And no i havent put one in before,but i have pulled the trans a time or two.Thanks for warning me about the *****.Is there anything else i need to watch for when im doing this?And can i use a shift kit with a stall?

GOT A HUGHES 2500 STALL ON MINE. make sure you dont lose anything. also clean the area before you work, spotless dont let any dirt get on the parts, you are pulling out and are putting back in.the shift cable braket is going to be in your way, youll have to bend it out of the way to get the pan off. (i shouldnt need to tell you to do this with a cool trans), if you dont have a drain plug fluid is going everywhere. have a pan ready. follow the directions to a "T". one more thing if you dont know, or come across a problem stop and find out, if you screw it up your screwed. bottom line. just for s&g it probably wouldnt cost no more than $100 to have a transmission shop do it. I did mine at our shop here in town. have every tool you could think of.oh and dont plan on doing anything for a whole day. start early. it took me and a friend 8 hrs to install mine. norm is like 4hrs. but we where doing a lot of bull shitting and working on the race car too.
