Default shift points

What are some good shift points on a 99nbs z71 x-cab 5.3l I currently have +5 on all shifts 1-2 2-3 3-4 but I was wondering if anybody has perfected this on my truck. Also this is a hypertech programer. I know all are diffrent but some ideas would help.

Well, I know the 99 trucks shift from each gear at 5200 rpm's stock. What gears do you have? If you have 3.73's, I would think that +5 is to high for the 1-2 shift and +5 is to low for the 2-3 shift. When I had my HPP, I had my 1-2 shift set for +3 which was 5984 rpms and +11 for the 2-3 shift which was 5948 rpm's. My 00 truck shifted from 1-2 at 5600 and 2-3 at 5200 stock, it pulled well up to 5984 with the HPP. I figured if it could pull to 5600 stock in 1st, pulling it to there in 2nd would be ok too. When I raised the 1-2 shift rpm's, I tried to match the 2-3 shift at about the same rpm. Use the HPP booklet to figure out what shift points you have now. If I remember right with 3.73 gears, the HPP booklet said for every 1 mph in 1st gear equaled 128 rpms with 3.73 gears and 68 rpm's in 2nd gear. So +5 is like 5840 for your 1-2 and 5540 for the 2-3 shift. I would think that 5840 is to high for the cam that came in 99 truck since it shift at 5200 stock but I could be wrong. I would set all your shift for about 5600 which is 400 rpms' over stock, I would try +3 and +6 which is right around the 5600 mark.

I had my shifts in my ol' 99 5.3 Z71 at about 5500-5600 rpms. That stock cam is very wipmy compared to the '00+ stock cam.
