Default Shift points on cammed 5.3

OK i'm putting the MTI b1 cam in my truck for the time being until i get enough money to swap the 383 in. I'm having Westers do my tune mail order style(sketchy, i know). What should i have him set my shift points at and rev limiter at?

cam specs are 221/221 .558 .558 on a 114

Need to know, 1st and second gear shift points and what to set rev limiter at. i was thinking somewhere around 6300 shift points for 1st and 2nd gears?
REmember i have a TT3200, billet servos. no shift kit yet, but maybe in the future.

thanks

I think about 6500 to stay in the power band better when you shift.

I would not shift at any less than 6500 with that cam. It's recommended to have some pushrods if shifting that high.

It depends on the truck, but according to his sig, rcsb with 4.10's, I'd say 6500rpms is just right!
The 4.10's will allow him to rev quick and reach 6500rpms quickly.

That and wit hthe stock heads you can only flow so well and peak HP isnt going to be over 6500. So 6500 is just past the HP peak which is where you want to shift.

Set the rev limiter to 6700.

I was more curious along the lines of what rpm the 5.3 is capable of peaking at. Anyone got any dyno graphs showing a 6500rpm shift would be just past peak hp?

This is the way I see it.
A 5.3 is a small 5.7 - bore sizes
A 5.3 will need more air to to peak @ the same rpm
5.7's peak @ 6200 with a decent sized cam.
Truck manifold is a restriction @ higher rpms. compared to ls6.

The reason I question is because I've seen a head/cam 5.3 peaking @ 5900. Also, this will help me choose better for my setup, having something to back up my decisions...along with others.

Please though...no seat-o-meter results

Just my opinion, but why go with a mail order tune when you can get HPtuners for only a little more? Anyone who spends enough time on mods to frequent this forum should be interested enough to enjoy tuning for themselves. Also, you wouldn't need to ask what to have someone else set your shift points at. You could try for yourself, and if they needed to be changed you could do it in a couple of minutes.
