Default shift points and rev limiter question

just finished a cam swap on my buddies truck and had a question on shift points and rev limiter

his setup is 2000 4.8L, 210/214 545/550 114+4 FMS cam, tci 3000 stall 2.5 str, 4.11's, 100 shot, most bolt ons

what do you think would be a good place to set the rev limiter at and a good place to start working with the shift points.

thanks

A good place to start: edited oops: try 6100 for 1st, 6000 for 2nd. Set your rev limiter at 6500. That may not be high enough for you, but it's a place to start. With those 4.10's you'll go thru 1st gear in a hearbeat.
On my truck I shift 6500 with all stock parts and it pulls on the street up to that rpm and shows on the dyno to be making power up to 6600rpms. Wierd i know, but it does. Maybe it has something to do with the steep gears and shorter tires.

later,

allen

That all depends on how high it makes power. put it on a dyno and set it to shift about 400 rpm's past it's peak power. I shift 6200 1st/2nd, 6350 2nd/3rd, rev limit 6600. If your gonna rev that high, I'd recommend arp rod bolts.

no idea, I'm sure it would safely rev to 6500rpms, but it won't be making any hp that high.
