shorties vs. longtubes
just curious if yall think its worth the extra hassle to go w/ longtubes vs. using a set of shorty headers?
if i go w/ LT's i think ill get the Pacesetters, but who makes the best shorty header? JBA seems to make some nice stuff.
ive got a full dual exhaust system, we split it at the Y merge, and removed the cats. if i go longtubes ill have to go back to my bud's exhaust shop to have it welded up, but if i use shorties its a bolt in deal. pretty tempted to use shorties just to keep it simple. and i figure the shorties would be less likely to blow out a header gasket.
not a whole lot planned for the future buildups. just a cam swap and computer tuning, maybe a stall....i still tow a car trailer to the dragstrip so i may not go w/ a stall. not real concerned about getting a killer 60 foot w/ the truck.
anyways, just looking for some opinions. CHIP

I plan on dumping my shorties for some LT's as soon as I can save up enough scratch...gonna take a while (to save the $$), but from what I've heard, it'll be worth it. I plan to find out if the StainlessWorks header system will fit a 99 (I don't have AIR or EGR, so as long as there's no clearance issues I'll be golden!) They list them for the 04-05's, but haven't test fit them on the other year NBS trucks...

I'll add a me too to the shorties are a totally worthless waste of time and money camp. Regardless of manufacturer claims, they are absolutely no measurable improvement over stock manifolds, and sometimes they show losses.
