I got a set of Gibsons shorty headers, haven't installed them yet...I get the feeling I should put these up on the auction block as it seems the majority of you guys think it's useless... I'm I right here...

Shortys are only better for running constant, high RPM's like in a circle track car. They'll help balance flow at the high end. When do you ever keep a truck above 3500?
LT's will allow for better power to move at lower RPM's and help to increase torque. Long Tubes all day!

A+ answer. This is the first response that I have seen that gave an explanation as to why the shorty's do not work as well. Not just, "they suck". Thank you for the USEFULL information.
Now, TOG makes a mid length header. Yu still have to cut and weld, but they are carb approved. After talking with ASM, they consider their header mid length as well.

I used to have a set of Edelbrock shorties and they are definetely more suited to high-rpm. I actually felt like I lost a little power down low (but that might have just been disappointment at not being able to feel any power gain at all.)
