Default Shorty headers?

I know, I know, LTs are gooder....

We have been looking for a set of 5.3/6.0 manifolds for a turbo setup on my buddies car, and they're all sold, or the people want $$$ for them, so I was thinking.....

I have a 1500 mile old, 2005 Z71 5.3 sitting in the garage, and it has stock manifolds on it, and.......would shorties help the truck at all? I can get stainless steel shorties for ~$300, plus we'd get to use my stock manifolds (~$100 savings), so the headers would only cost me ~$200. Wha kinda gains would I see if any?

Thanks, Shawn

No, u won't feel any improvement, I made the mistake of buying shorties, not the best decision in the world, did not feel any type of improvement, I felt more of an improvement when I changed my fuel filter

They dont do much for what they cost. The majority of the imporvements are up high in the RPM's. The primaries are too short to do otherwise.

a buddie put a set on his 99 4.8 and you could barely feel a little pull in the upper rpms... but they definitly werent worth the trouble..

on your 05, i doubt they flow much betetr than the stock mani's

save the 300 and look for a usedset of ASM's and etc to come up.. i got mine which wer ealmost brand new for a lil over 300
