If you want the best heads you can get for the 5.3 go with the Edelbrocks like i'm doin.
But they are pricey i don't remember his exact quote but it was in the 2100-2300 range.
They are basically brand new castings that he works over and so on and so fourth.
Way better than just doin some work on the stockers but it's all in what you want to do in the end really.
I know a guy had a set of stage I's i think in the for sale section if you want to go that route as well.
I'll see if i can find the link and post it up.

Go with the heads if you add a camshaft, otherwise the cost/benefit could be pretty low. I think the 2.02 valves will clear. Have them milled or use a thinner head gasket to increase your static compression a half point. Patriot Performance has some good value heads.

I have a cam. that is another reason that I am doing the head work.
Is the CR only a half point diffrence between 5.3 and LS1 heads?

Before you get anything give Richard a call at WCCH. His sponsor link is------------>
Over there. He can explain alot to you about the choices and what not and trust me Richard is a great guy that will explain anything you need to know.
I have one set of his heads already and will be getting a second for the new 5.3
