For my truck, I fabricated an "A"pipe. Its a single pipe that splits into two pipes with a crossover just after the split. When someone wants to know what kind of exhaust I have, I tell them "Why don't you just go look at my A--pipe."

well guys my only concern is that with the prefabbed X pipe is that it is too wide for my current exhaust and having it redone isnt an option right now...I was just hoping that if I cut the pipe and made my own H pipe that it would help me out...if its not then Ill prolly just have to leave it for now...

Meh, who knows. I'm more of an x-pipe fan than an h-pipe, but both serve a purpose.
And about the 2.25" dual to a 3" single, neglecting the effects on the flow near the pipe surface, the cross-sectional area of the former is 7.95"^2 as opposed to 7.07"^2 of the latter. .88"^2 isn't going to make or break the low-end performance of the engine, IMHO. It's the guys who put on a 2.5" dual set-up (9.82"^2) who have an issue with their 4.8's or 5.3's.
