Default silverado 4.8 exhaust

I am looking to get a dual exhaust kit for my ride but I want to make sure that it is the best for my money. I have an 07 silverado LT 4.8. Through my research, the flowmaster 40 kit seems the best to boost power and add a great sound. What do you guys think?

IMO just put an exhaust that you prefer to hear when driving. my 2002 im running a magnaflow and couldnt be happier, my 08 i have the GM performance exhaust which sounds awsome under load. i just got a new toy and im gonna run a corsa just to mix things up. its all up to you on how u want your truck to sound.

flowmaster=

dont make the same mistake i did.

right now im running a 14" magnaflow race muffler with stock manifolds, cats, and y, with sidepipes and its not really that loud. just cruising its a light rumble that you cant really hear a whole lot over the radio, but when you get on it it has a deep, loud, aggressive, and even sound...when you get the 40 series flowmaster your gonna run into a big annoying problem...DRONE which is a super annoying monotone noise inside the cab that will annoy the ever loving crap out of you, ask me how i know.......

but, you dont need true dual exhaust on your truck, just a 1 in 2 out or a 1 in 1 out will suit the stock 4.8 just fine.

also, another reason to choose magnaflow over flowmaster, is the obvious reason if you ever compare the mufflers side by side. if you try to look through a flowmaster, all you see is darkness because its a chambered muffler, which has baffels in it that eventually break loose and rattle. if you look through the magnaflow its straight through with no baffels, which obviously flows better....

get you a 14" race muffler like me, i guarentee you you'll love it herre's a link to it-

pretty much what gs7793 said sums it up.

I would look for some type of straight through muffler that you like the sound of. As for performance, a muffler alone on a stock truck is not going to gain you any noticeable power but if you get a custom tune with it then you most certainly would notice more power as most of the increase would be from the tune itself. Add Long Tube headers into the equation and you will see a little more power.

well, i definitely plan to add more than just a custom exhaust. CAI, tune, etc... But the exhaust is what speaks for you. On top of that, some additional performance would be nice!

I won't bash all chambered mufflers, but will say I feel flowmaster is junk. In some set ups they sound ok, but performance wise they suck.

Ive run magnaflow in pretty much all of my past performance applications and feel they do great. If you get drone, add a bullet in front of it.

Corsa would probably be the best bet, but too expensive for me.

I just swapped my si/do flowmaster for a hooker aerochamber and am very happy with it. The flowmaster was aggravating as hell on the highway. The aerochamber has a nice rumble but without the aggrivation

I will agree with all about Flowmaster, plus I hope your not planning on running true duals on a stock 4.8 liter.

For what its worth, I love the sound and performance out of my Magnaflow Race muffler on my 4.8 liter.

i am not planning on running a true dual on my 4.8. But just for curiosity sake, why do you say that?

All I can say is what ever u do dont run Aero turbine on ur 4.8.I had one on mine and my truck couldnt get out of its own way.I know we have a bunch of Flowmaster bashers here, but I put a flow on my truck now and it runs alot better.
