Both trucks can be made equally fast. The 2500HD doesn't weight that much more than the SS but is still a bit heavier.

My only gripe would be the tranny in the SS. If you plan on getting into a real power adder or a lot of heavy towing then the 4L80E is going to last you longer.

Otherwise the SS is great. My buddy just bought an 04' to tow his bass boat and his family around he he is always grinning from ear to ear when he stops by. I just hate when he parks next to me at my work. His truck maks mine look weak. Hahaha

What about a VHO?? It doesnt have the AWD, but it has a 6.0 and it is cheaper I think. Plus I like the 20's on those alot more.

Out of 26K miles, 24K with the Radix, the 465e transmission in the SS is holding fine. I am rather heavy footed, but I have yet to do any towing. The 465e is not as fragile as the 460e, but I am no doubt going to run into the need to upgrade the transmission internals someday.

Someone always has to throw out the VHO.

Might as well throw the Sierra Denali into the mix.

Whats wrong with the VHO?? It seems to meet his needs and it is less expensive I thought. For my money I would have the SS, but he seems to be looking for options.

After we get the truck we will be working on a tri y set up like our c5 headers. And a charger will go on it of course. I can keep anything stock. Thanks for the input guys.

You are correct. Under light boost the trans is pretty decent. It's when you start trying to get some big power out of it that they fail. The guys I see breaking them are running 107mph+ in the 1/4 and either using a Radix+nitrous or just a big shot of nitrous.

I talked to Chuck at FLP and he said even a built 4L65E with the chryo'd input shaft still might be too weak for 500+rwhp in a 5000lb+ truck. So I'm doin a 4L80E.

I found a black 03 leftover that i just purchased two months ago as a new vehicle, showed up on the last day of that month just looking for a 1500 4x4. they got me to test drive this gas hog and told me it was mine for 28,9. i said OK.

is it just me or does everyone with an ss like boats too? i tow my 04 22' sea ray bowrider with no problems. it squats a bit but i dont care. you want a tire burner too? pull the front ds. call it a day
