Silverado SS exhaust...how is it setup ???
Is it the same as the 2500's ??.....2 3/4" duals into one big muffler and out into one tailpipe ???, I assume it does as the Supermaxx headers I have are for the SS as well as my truck
The reason that I ask is I heard an '04 the other day with the stock exhaust (I asked) and it sounded GOOD, I like my Magnaflow but wish it was quieter sometimes....I may switch to the stock SS exhaust if it has the same configuration as the one on my truck

I'm quite certain it's 2.5" inlet tubing... (off the cats).
The tailpipe is large - about 3.5" I believe. I can measure later to verify.
I hear there is a tight internal restriction in the muffler, but there was a thread on here where someone tore into one. That would be the place to look for that info.

If I remember correctly, the two inlet pipes both go into one chamber in the middle of the muffler. Then one pipe goes backwards through the muffler into another chamber, then one tube goes all the way out the muffler that turns into the tailpipe. The other pipe that Y's into the tailpipe isn't an outlet, it's an inlet to a resonance chamber to keep in the cab noise down. The tailpipe is 3.5" but the pipe out of the muffler is only 3", why they put a 3.5" pipe on only GM knows. I had an SS muffler and tailpipe on my 5.3L for a while, the truck ran real good with it.

So it IS 2 pipes leading into the muffler ???
The stock setup that my 2500 had was: one flanged pipe with a cat in it and one slip fit pipe that both fed into the muffler, one tail-pipe out.....is that the way that the stock SS system is ???
looks like this right ??

The stock exhaust is 2.5 inlet with 2.75 on the outlet into the 3.5 at the tip. Allen told me when I got my tune that guys were going to the stock SS muffler because it flows like a aftermarket. I like the sound of my SS, It isn't to loud but sounds cool.

The SS Muff Flows 160 CFM More Than OE
Corsa engineers flow tested many GM mufflers. they report the SS muffler flows 160 or so more than an OE silverado muffler.
I have one on my 03 Z71 and like it alot. The OE mufflers are not as restricted as the after market makers would like us to think.
I had my Y-pipe cut after the cats and new pipes ran true dual into the SS muffler, The OE hangars matched up fine.
See my signature.
