The SS uses the same stock pipes up front as the rest of the 1/2 ton trucks. Its 2.5" stuff with the same converters. The only exception is that it doesn't Y, it stays dual. From the "catback" point, they enlarged the pipe to 2.75", then took that into the muffler. The dual 2.75" outlets merge into a single 4" tailpipe.

My stock SS muffler sounded great with my cam. I sound wise I wish I still had it on. I felt there was more performance to be had from it though.

Did you really notice a difference by changing it bigtex? I was thinking about changing mine out, but if I am only going to gain 1-2hp I would rather keep my stock quiet muffler with a stock tip.

To be honest, no, I didn't gain much. I went with a flopro dual3" in/ single 3" out. Its a little soft on torque now. Probably makes a bit more power up high though. Not nearly as much power difference as I was expecting to feel. I miss the quiet. The stock muffler ran suprisingly well. I had ASM headers, no cats, Cam, and bolt ons which all combined to make the stock muffler sound great. Low burbly deep tone that got many compliments. Flopro is semi-quiet, but no compliments on the exhaust tone from it.

My fault? Mine sounds great, especially with this motor.

Default I Feel That I Gained From The SS Muffler.

As you can see in my signature I am not heavily modded. I put the SS muffler on last after the Nelson 93 tune. It felt much healthier up top than the OE muffler.
You can pick them up cheap on the SS forum classifieds. Or Ebay somtimes.

Not your fault Ben. Without my cats, my flopro has a little raspy note to it. At idle it sounds "tin can" like. Not a bad sound, but also not that deep mello sound it had with the stock muffler.

It wouldn't hurt a 5.3 to run that system. Not sure how much gains you'd see. It definielty sounds better than the stock 5.3 truck muffler. The first day I brought my SS home, my wife asked if I had already done something to make it rumble. I told her "not yet"...

looks like this right ??

Does that single cat have an 02 sensor and CARB ceritifcation?
