Get the stock rims widened and put a spacer on them to set them out a little. With the spacer you might want/need some stronger/longer wheel studs though. They could probably be widened 2-3" but only in the back so I don't know if that much would be ok. There isn't that much room back to the leaf spring from the wheel so they'd definately have to be spaced out some.

the stock rim is close to the brake lines. no room to go back, if i had it widend 2" i would need a 2" spacer.

Damn, brake lines ....Take them off.

I guess a bigger diameter rim would be needed to put them in any further but, then the tire choices are even less.

Here's my truck. These stick out 2 inches further than stock. I don't think 1 more would be bad at all.

The back one is exactly flush and level with the rear fender.
The front one sticks out about 1/2" from the fender.

Hmmmm.....That doesn't look bad at all.

Jim get some fender flares and some wider rims with the right offset to run the 14" wide tires.

Anyone here remember an article that came out several years ago about a modded silverado that Lingenfelter put out for one of his clients? That truck had a set of cheap stock steel wheels that were widened. This was from WAYYY back in the day when getting into the 12s wasn't common.

Who would I go to get some old stockers widened? This definately seems like the cheapest route. My buddy told me I could have his obs Z71 rims off of his old truck. I know they are 6 lug, but how wide are these rims? Thanks

the stock aluminum rims are 7" wide. the back of the rim is prety close to the brake line on the caliper. there isn't much room to widen the rim unless you change the offset too.

right now i am thinking the easiest thing to try will be to wait for the 28" drag radial to come out and see how i like those. they dont last all that long anyways and stock rims are cheap. 28" tall sucks but i bet it will run like the wind.

I talked to centerline yesturday and today about making a 15" work. The guy (Ron), said that I would probably have to run a 4inch backspacing to get it to work. I originally wanted to get a 15x8 with a 5" backspacing, but I dont want to get rims made and have them not fit. I wish someone would make a 30 inch drag radial for 16/17 inch rims.

Because of the big torque gains delivered by the supercharger, Lingenfelter had a set of steel truck wheels widened to 8 inches to mount the 26x11.5x16-inch Mickey Thompson ET Street tires. That extra traction helped this truck pull down a best 1.847-second 60-foot time.
I was just wondering what was the with of Denali rims? Goodyear makes slicks for 17's

Parish you dont seem to be having traction problems now, are you plotting on something?
