Default SLOW throttle responce! WTF?

04 Silverado with a 5.3Liter V8 and an automatic. Its drive by wire (like a Vette).

I have noticed that this truck has some serious delay from the time I punch the throttle till the engine responds. Its like the throttle motor is not resonding quick enough. Is this "programed in" or is it just something I have to live with (I'm used to mechanical linkage where "you push it your going"....no delay)? I have not heard of this problem on Vettes though.

I'm pretty sure there all like that, mine is the same way, it's just a big heavy truck that has to get up and get going

its not really the “engine”......as you said these trucks are heavy so its not going to have the "launch" of my camaro.

I'm talking more about the fact that I can sit in neutral with the engine at an idle and when I rap the throttle on, its kind of a "lag" between the time the pedal gets pushed and the engine responds (comes off idle) as if the butterfly in the throttle body is not responding very quickly. I'm used to that instant “SNAP” of the manual cable.

i have heard that the 03's and 04's have the fly by wire. the pcm will pull the throttle blade closed some under hard acceleration. tqm. i think parish had a similar problem but fixed it.

I was impressed with the responsiveness of my trucks drive by wire throttle response. It would jump at the slightest touch. I have no complaint at all with it. I just wish I had the manual TB for my nitrous WOT switch.

I am in the same boat, hesitates some, but then takes off like a bad out of hell, just takes a few to get it going. I can also really feel the TQ management in the engine slowing everything down. I can't wait to get a nelson tune.

I think that delay when you stab the pedal is normal. My old cable operated motor, and the new drive by wire are about the same.

Do these engines have anything programmed in to simulate an accelerator pump? I think it could use a little tuning.
