looking for a truck right now, i work for a body shop and can get wrecked vehicles dirt cheap, so what did you spend on your 6.0 swap? just trying to figure out if i should settle for a 4.8 truck and 6.0 it later or go ahead and get the 5.3 and live with it. thanks, sean

what about extra costs? i almost did an ls1 swap into my 99 s10 (bought the totaled ta for the motor, but sold the s10 for more than i paid after 32000 miles, woohoo) and the extra costs besides motor were around 3-4 grand. i know the 6.0 is pretty much plug and play, but i want to be sure before i get a 4.8 truck.
the lq4 is the 6.0 i assume? what tranny is in the 99+ trucks, 4l60e? 4l80 in the 6.0 trucks? thanks for helping with the newbie questions.

i paid $1100 localy for a 40k 2001 6.0. it actualy came with a lot more stuff than i needed that i was able to sell and get about $300 of that back. stuff like coil packs, intake, throttle body, injectors, starter..... sold all of that. then for extra costs there realy aren't many. fluids was about it.
to get the most out of the 6.0 you will want to get a tune of some kind. i would think the stock 4l60e would last a while behind a stock 6.0 but you never know, it could crap out instantly.
if you think you want a 6.0 swap then hell yeah get the 4.8 if it is cheaper. that is exactly what i did.
