Default so hows my cam swap part list looking for my 6.0

2003 GMC Z71 with 6.0 swap, headers, throttle body, electric fans, and tune again after the cam... 3.73's and 33r20's...

Comp cam 54-444-11... 224/230@.50 581/588 114lsa
(this is the cam comp cams recommended for me with what i plan so just wanting to make sure everything else sounds good with this cam)

he recommended there kit of course as well which is high bucks... PN 54200

but in some research this is what i found i can use instead of the kit...

Pac .600 springs $145 shipped... i made a offer to this company for $150... he CALLED me and said he would do $145 shipped and send me a paypal invoice so that ebay doesnt get there share... which is fine with me cause paypal is safe without ebay anyways... great guy to do business will... shanonsengineering is his eBay user name and highly recommended... he was the cheaper on ebay and googling this product by far already... now hes even better... http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/LS1-6...item43a61e1b49

Wooden dowls to hold up lifters

Green intake gasket swap

Waterpump and timing cover seals

New crank bolt

Oem lifters

bought... comp cams magnum 5/16 .7400 chromo pushrods with 5 dyno runs for $65 shipped

stock retainers are gonna be strong enough...

anything else i should change while im in there? motor has only maybe 20k on it...

Keeping oil pump and timing chain...

think thats it for now... thanks!

Well if the engine has only 20,000 miles,
The stock lifters should be fine.
The stock timing chain will be fine as well as the oil pump.

Now , you can upgrade the chain/lifters/oil pump as its easy now, but you really dont need to.

Front timing cover gasket, water pump gaskets.
New crank bolt.

Head gaskets are NOT Needed. Must be a guy who never worked on an LSx engine.

Dowel rods to hold up lifters while you are pulling the camshaftout/in.

Stock valve retainers will be fine.

I would do PAC valve springs, as the yellow Z06 springs are good, but can lead to v alve float if you plan on forced induction down the road.

Also i see you have an 03 truck, i bet you have the red old style intake gaskets. While your working on your truck get the new green gaskets and put them on, very easy. No , pulling the intake isnt neeeded either with the cam swap, but i would def. change those gaskets as they fail and cause a vaccum leak eventually.

So your gonna run ls6 springs knowing that the are only recommended for .550-.560 lift with a .59x cam lift???? That is not very smart

Awesome thanks for your thoughts... I don't plan on running any kind of forced induction myself because of cost... I think its just way to much unless your really into racing... However I will look into price differences and if its not a ton then I may as well roll with it in case I sell it and someone else wants to spend some more money...

I also plan to pick a special tool I read about that slips through a Hole in the front of the motor and holds the lifters up for cam remove/install... Also the air fitting for the spark plug hole to hold the valves in place... I think I have all the other specialty tools...

Thanks again for any input!

I have done about 6 cam swaps in these motors, 4 being on my own truck. Wooden dowel rods works just fine. And they are about $115 cheaper

Your cam has a lift of .581/.588 and your springs are only good to .550-.560. The .56O is really pushing it on ls6 springs.
