low GMC or whatever just put down 350 rwhp with a stock LQ4, headers and tbss stall. That trumps a cammed 5.3 and will have WAY more power under the curve.

a cammed 5.3(224) with headers and tbss intake would put down 350 too, but would have WAY more power in the upper rpms and be able to pull to ~6600 easily. if were talking faster at the track, 5.3 IMO

I haven't read all this but if I were in the situation I would go with a 3600 shift kits and huge cooler... (My trans has 140kon it with a 3200 and a shift kit and big cooler. I'm just waiting on the boom) also as far as gears go I would go 4.10s to help out with the bottom end... Your city milage is gunna suck but my highway didn't drop but like 1mpg so that's not that bad...

alright thanks for the replies, i plan on doing a 3600 stall, transgo hd2 shift kit and the tru cool trans cooler, now as far as the gears go, i already have 3.73s and plan on running them just to see how they work for me, later i will prolly get the 4.10s, and my goal right now is to beat my buddy with his tahoe, its an ls1 with a futral 224 cam and it runs like a 13.7 with a tranny that has 200,000 miles on it slippin in every gear, lol. thats my goal so im stickin with the 5.3 for now. i take it i will need bigger injectors like 28lb injectors, i think i have 24 now, thanks again

You will need at least 31 lb injectors like the regular 8.1L ones to support the cam. That's what I have and I'm running them at close to 90% IDC. The TBSS injectors will also work, I think they are a tad bigger, but you will need to change the injector plugs or get adapters to use them.

As for the throttle body, why not just get a 90mm TB to fit on the intake instead of using the smaller stock one with an adapter?

It would probably be good enough although I'm not a fan of using adapters for things if you don't have too.
