i think the EPS cam and head work was the combo for 12s
I dont see the new fti cam gaining a whole lot over what you had
I bet you gain less than 15 hp at the tires.
Heads would have gained 40-50hp

I kind of agree... but what the hell do I know. It just seems that you had a combo that worked really well and heads woulda been icing on the cake.

I keep talking about the big converters losing top end efficiency... but, again, what do I know. I'd be curious to compare time slips at 1/8 and 1/4 of the 4000 vs the 3600. Mainly the MPH gap between the 1/8 and 1/4 for both converters and all else equal.

Vortec and Grey matter I'm not gonna dissagre one bit.. I'm sure heads was the key for 12s... reason I went with more cam wasn't for the gain of HP but to match the can to the verter... my eps was a great match for my 3600.. my 4000 hits to much harder but dies up top since the EPs can wasn't specd for it so Ur gets out of the power band since the 4k has a higher rpm range... I'm just looking to match the cam to the verter. Ed told me that due to the bigger verter I needed more grind and I had to spjn motor to 6500... so that's y he specd me this... and as FSR as times I'll post slips... truck got a bit faster in the 1/8 and well in the 1/4 I did run both verters but it was different times due to weather.. 13.7@98 vs 13.2@101

FTI is right in my backyard too... if I make any other moves I'll prolly have something done by him just because its fairly close.

I heard great things about him also.. and when he said we could get more I didn't hesitate to let him grind me a new cam.. he also recommend me different springs said I was leaving power behind so I went with his suggestion... and once the money is here I will b getting my head ported.. goal is 400 on the 5.3

Thats one hell of a goal. I hope you make it!

I can't wait to see how my truck runs once I finally get a decent converter and my AFR's on there. I have a feeling my NNBS intake might limit me at some point... I'm also only thinking a 3200 stall in an 80e with the 222/226 EPS in my LQ9. The closer gear ratios will make the shift extensions fairly small with that converter... but I'm worried about the long first gear out of the hole. Nothin some real short tires can't help
