Default Some kind of chamber on my air intake tube....

Don't laugh because I have never looked at my intake tube much, as I have only changed the air filter once, and have only recently thought about a cold air intake setup for my truck. All the times I changed the oil I never noticed that chamber.

What is that plastic chamber that is shaped kind of funny that hangs down from my intake tube about a foot or so? Kind of bell shaped in an odd pear sort of way? Water trap? You know the plastic tube after the MAF and before the TB? Is that some kind of noise cancelling device? The cold air kits I have seen only have a tube going straight from the MAF to the TB, no chambers in between... Would that make the truck much louder under hard accelleration (without the chamber)?

Is that some kind of noise cancelling device?
I do believe that is part of it's purpose.

Its to make the general buyers happy, because its quieter.
You have a serious problem if water was to get in there!
But yes, i know its there to keep quiet.

my old '94 Z28 had a big long sucker that hung down off of the intake elbow. Most folks likened it to a bit of equine anatomy.

I'll let you figure out the rest.
