Default Soon to have two supercharged 8.1s in the family

I've been driving my Suburban alot this year and felt like I was missing something when I jumped behind the wheel of the HD. The thing that truck is missing is horsepower! It goes pretty good with the current mods (Volant induction, TOG headers, Westers programming, Comp Cam, Crane rockers, Direct Hits ignition, ported throttlebody, 4.56 gears and a few small mods that I might be forgetting. So... I ordered a non-intercooled Whipple to give this truck a boost (pun intended ). This kit won't be coming with the piggback fuel system. I'll be using a larger set of injectors and have Lyndon at Westers take care of the programming. This should be worth some extra horsepower over the way the kit is usually sold. I have a good selection of Whipple pulleys so I'll go down to get a little more horsepower. This should be good for close to a 140hp gain. I can always add the intercooler if I get used to this.

2002 8.1 Silverado HD - Full Throttle lift, 37" tires, Comp Cam, TOG headers, Volant induction plus more!
2002 8.1 Suburban -Intercooled Whipple supercharger, 22" wheels/tires + more - 407hp/558 ft-lb torque at the rear wheels - 13.93 @ 95.79 MPH

Any reason you didn't get the intercooler?

I wanted to leave myself room to grow into it Actually, that is pretty much the reason. I built the Suburban to be a very fun truck to drive on the street, run in the 13s at the track and it is the dedicated tow vehicle for road trips so I wanted plenty of power. The Silverado runs pretty good but I want a big increase in power. This is used as a daily driven vehicle in the winter so I'm leaving myself room for a nice upgrade if I get used to it later.

A Corsa exhaust might find it's way onto the truck at the same time. They don't have anything for the long bed trucks so alittle fabrication might be required. That should complete the performance mods for this year.
