Default sound...ie mufflers

ok i been debating on how i want to do my exhaust. i want the most out of my combo..

iwas going to run dual 3" into x then out the side

or i was going to run dual 3" into a single 4" out the side.....if i go this route i already got a 4" flowmaster


if i go the true duals then im not sure what mufflers i want...been thinking bullets or SLP loud mouth muffler

i love the sound of a super 40 flowmaster but this is just about an all out build so this time every HP counts....i just cant pull myself to liking magnaflows. i just cant. been listening to sound clips for past 30minutes and not one of them sound mean


exhaust will consist of 1 7/8 stepped to 2" headers with 3.5" collectors with no cats and dual 3"

yes it will be loud....so post up soem sound clips or suggestions

hey quick, I just swapped from a single 3" hooker aerochamber to a 3" single borla XR-1 (i believe its a 12" case), and it sounds freakin mean!!!! damn I wonder how yours will sound with 2 of them!! I"ve had plenty of mufflers before and so far this borla is the best sounding one ever, it really has that tuff tone to it... just my .02... sorry I dont have no clips..

I like the Borla's also but I'm a bit biased. My XR-1 12"'s are fed by
shortys thru 3" mandrel bends into 2.1/2" reduced right before the X and 2 1/2" back

Yours will sound deeper with the larger tubing and lt's.

How about a larger muffler with the built in xover? might save you a few dollars, and save some space?

I 3wish i could. Yeah, no cats and long tubes would be nice but here would mean a big *** ticket and long term smogging with a referee.

What about running a dual in/dual out muffler. Several brands make these, but you all ready said that you don't like MagnaFlow. Here is a dynomax example

i agree. i just put 2 of these chambered glasspacks on my 99 Z71 with dynatechs and powercats and it is loud as hell. with the sound it sounds like an old muscle car and is deep as hell. the cats dont really make a difference since you can see right through them.
