Iridium should be pre-gapped...if you have to gap them, be very careful, it's very easy to snap the iridium tips off the top of the electrode. You have to grab the ground only, either with a special gapping tool or with a pair of needle nose pliers. Do not put an old style gapping tool between the ground and electrode and pry, or you will snap the iridium tip for sure.

*EDIT* also, different plug manufacturers recommend different gaps for their iridium plugs in different applications. I checked Denso's website and their iridium plug for our trucks is gapped somewhere around .050-.055ish, and it says that they come pre-gapped and not to gap them.

Good info...so .040 for Delco Iridiums...gap may be different for other manufacturers though as the plugs themselves may have slightly different designs...

I tend to gap all the plugs in my own vehicle tight. Less likely to misfire. But most plugs when you get them come pre gapped so check them all before you put them in and if they are all the same leave them alone.
