"Spark" in Plug Wires

Default "Spark" in Plug Wires

Well last night i got home and decided take a look at my plug wires because i knew the boots where touching on the headers (Pacesetter LT's). I noticed a little blue-ish spark on one wire where the boot and the wire connect while the truck was running. I turned it off and moved the wires around and restarted to check and it did the same again. Just wondering to see if any of you guys have experienced this before and what did you do to fix the problem. Luckily I checked them at night which made it easy to spot and caught my eye quick.

Change that wire. Or are you saying it is visible on all 8?

Just on one the one that has the boot touching on the header its the third one on the driver side the rest looked fine. I just finished ordering a set of taylor 409's wires to try and solve the problem. I guess if i would of never checked it a night i would of never found out.

change all your wires cuz! get the MSD wires and be done with it!

I just ordered me some Taylor 409's I read on here they have the best clearance.

Has anyone else experienced something like this before.
I reccomend everyone with stock plug wires that are rubbing on pacesetters lts to check the wires and boots at night making it easier to spot a potential misfire just and FYI.

have you tried bending the boots away from the header? i have the msd's and had to bend almost all of them away from the header

I've seen this many times on engines with headers...the heat from the header melts the wire and the spark goes to the path of least resistance, which is the header primary. I just diagnosed a friend of a friend's misfire with the same exact problem on a big block Malibu this past weekend. You've already ordered new wires, but maybe some of those heat sleeves would be a good idea also...
