Squeaking motor--sounds like idler pulley maybe
Okay, I've noticed recently that when I start my truck in the mornings that I hear an annoying squeaking sound. I know it has to be the idler pulley that everyone talks about, it usually goes away after the truck warms up, but its embarrasing as hell to have it done when out somewhere.
Anyone change this themselves and if so, how difficult and part numbers for the replacement?????

You can use some wd-40 with the "power straw" (little red tube) to spray the back side of the idlers while the engine is running. Just be careful of the fan and belts. A safer way is to remove the belt and check each pully by hand........with the engine off....lol

Yea, I don't have part numbers for ya, but I've done both my upper and lower idler pullies for noises. Actually the top one was replaced under warranty, and they threw a new belt on also. From the looks of it, it's about a ten minute job. It had the same noise you mentioned, squeaking when cold.
The lower, ac idler started to make a jackhammer noise when the a/c was engaged. Picked that part up at the dealer (can't remember the price, but it was cheap), and two bolts later the noise was fixed.
You could try lubing it like Wilde mentioned to try and save yourself a few bucks. Like he said, do it with the engine off, and just try to squeeze the lube into the center of the pulley, keep the lube off the belts and outer edge of the pulley. It may work, it may come back, but it's worth a try for free.
