Default which stall????

Are Vig stalls as good as the Yanks? i noticed that the Vig's are a lot cheaper.

i would like a 3200 stall for a 4L80e tranny. (tranny will be attached to a cammed & radix charged 5.3 (maybe 6.0 if some stuff works out) so it will need to be able to last.

which should i go with?

Vig = $730
Yank = $940

I actually bought the yank from the tbyrne GP but because i forgot something on my order form i ended up being SOL.

I hear alot of people using both, I am pretty sure they both get the job done, I would get a 3000 stall no matter what company you go with, much higher and I don't know if you'll like driving it all the time. I believe pasrish has a 3400. but most people go with the 3000. also better change those rear end gear when you switch to the 4l80e help with that low end. also our trucks look identical except the wheels.

ya, thats why im going with a 3200 stall. thanks for the info. But Tbyrne cut me a deal on a yank since i sent in a form for the GP, their good people. I thought about the gears, but i figure with the supercharger and stall my gears shouldn't be too bad, anyway i'd rather wait and see how they do so i can judge just how much more gear i need.

btw, nice truck

A PI stall is better than most of the Yank units in build construction IMO. I said MOST, not all. All are made from a hunk of billet steel, 2.5 STR, any stall from 2600-4000+, AntiBalloon plates, etc.

I'm not bashing Yank in any way, they make a great product but when it comes to their customer service they turned me away big time unless it's a used unit.

I still may get a PI if I can't get a hold of Flyer...he's too busy!

BLK6.0HD has a TCI on his truck and he kicks *** on the street!

For the money he spent I think it was a great deal. You might wanna send him a message. When I get my 4L60E I migth go that route since it is a good $400 cheaper than my usual Yank. (have owned 5 Yanks now)

I don't think you'll be putting out enough power to hurt either converter

well thats good then, just one more question, what do they do different to the vig for it to be specifically designed for my vehicle?in other words, why do they need to know my engine and all my bolt-ons?

Technically ANY high stall converter you buy should be designed for your car and it's mods and not be off the shelf.

Generally speaking most types of cars put down a certain amount of power with the same mods so they can get away with off the shelf converters within reason. Start adding power adders or crazy weight reduction and then things change. My TT3000 probably doesn't stall anywhere near 3000 anymore after all this TQ. But with just basic bolt-ons it was pretty close.
