stall with gears?
Right now I have 4.10 gears in my truck. It only kicks down good around 50 mph and from a dead stop, other than that, if your riding along and floor it, the thing just doesnt kick down. When I had the stock 3.42's in the truck the thing actually felt faster. I could be driving along at any speed and when I floored it, it would kick down and go. Now it doesnt. I am thinking about a yank 3000 stall and going back to 3.42 gears. If going to lower gears (4.10) gets you in the powerband faster and a stall does too, it looks like I would get the best of both worlds (from a dead stop and riding along) by putting the 3.42's back in and puting a yank 3000 in. Am I right or wrong.
Just in case, here are my current mods: K&N FIPK, ASM headers, comp 212/218 .522 .529 114, high flow cats, magnaflow 3" in 2- 2 1/2" out muffler, built transmission Transgo shift kit, 4.10's G80, ls1 edit. I am also putting some tea stage 1.5's on with 2.00 intake and 1.55 exhaust valves milled 20 thou. Thanks.

hmm. the reason it wont kick down is the gears. you will have to set it up again but you will lose those sweet spots. i lost mine with the 3.90's but do have some. 34mph-1-2 down shift max---74mph-2-3 down shift max.i would stay with the 4.10's. if you go 3.42's you will gain the top end downshift but will lose the low end grunt. hell if they want to go from a 40 roll then tell them no. racing is stop to stop.

yeah, you have to tuen for the new gears and change your shift points.
With Allen tuning or anyone that knows what they are doing with LS1 Edit, you can change what mph you downshift into what gear. For right now you can simply figure out what your max mph is in each gear by driving in that gear and holding it till redline (go slow). From there you can easily manually downshift the truck as needed to get into the right gear. Tuning is better

I missread what you wrote. I thought you had the 3000 stall already in it.
Peronsally I would keep your gears AND do the Yank. The Yank will only get you to 3000rpm quickly, after that you rely on your 3.42s. The truck should be quicker with the 4.10s and Y3000.
If you are looking to buy one I might have my TT3000 for sale very soon if I can find a 4L80E here in the next month

I'm kind of in a similar situation and am not sure what to do. I first got the 4.10s and posi put in and it took off way faster. Then I got a 3200 stall and it pulls hard off the line provided there is traction...(if I stomp it from a dead stop, it spins forever)
After about 50mph it doesn't pull for crap so I was thinking since I have the stall, I could swap in 3.42s to get my top end back.
I know Macadayear's truck pulls hard up top, but I have no problem taking him off the line.
Maybe I should go 3.73s?
