Default Stall & Tune

How high of a stall can be used without a tune? What causes it to need to be tuned?

I'd imagine if you go with a very high stall you comp might start throwing codes believing your tranny is slipping.

When I put in my high 2800 stall and shift kit, I really started feeling the effects of torque management. It really sucked out all the power for 2-3 seconds after each shift. That was my original reason for getting ls1 edit a while back.

2 to 3 seconds? Seems like that would defeat the purpose of a TC. I was considering a comparable stall speed. It almost seems I need to suck it up and either get the ls1edit or a paid service.

Yep, that's what i thought too. I really hadn't noticed torque management until after these mods. After removing TM though, it shifts fine with no power loss.
I don't think i had a problem with the converter locking/unlocking after the stall until I changed my cam. But this was also fixed with ls1 edit.

Thanks for the info. I see by your sig that you have the software. How much automtive experience did you have prior to doing your own edits did you have before you puirchased it?

Absolutely none. I've mainly just used it so far to turn off codes, change the upshift and downshift points, adjust the tire size, delet TM, and tweak the timing. I haven't gotten into the complicated stuff such as fuel trims.
