starting a mild stock upgrade rebuild 5.3 . input
I have a solI'd 5.3 core. My truck has tons if miles so I want to starta rebuild/upgrade
Ihave a set of ls2 heads
I will have block done up for rebuild. Hone line bore all that
I am thinking a lower lift can fir towing power
Maybe have the oil pump upgraded.
Th err e is a chance boost is in the future. Nothing big but maybe a vortec or procharger.
Will I be good with this stuff. And rings and bearings and a custom tune

If you wanted a few more cubes, the 4.8/5.3 blocks can be safely bored to a 5.7 LS1/6 size bore. Finding good used LS1/6 pistons and rods for under 120.00 is pretty easy. My machinist sells them for 80.00... This is route I'm currently going for my 5.7 build in progress.

first off need to decide if your going to want boost or not. that will be the focus of your build. im saying this because ive changed my build 3 times now and spent wayyyy to much money. my truck would be crazy if i had a plan first then stuck with it. that being said for towing a fresh rebuild, a 212/218 low lift cam or a tr 220 cam with a 2800-3200 stall and a tranny cooler with full bolt ons will make you happy :0
