Default stock gaskets or cometic .040's???

stockers sit around .052 thickness.

stockers with stock untouched 243 heads will put me at 10.65 cr and 8.43dcr

.040's will put me at 10.97cr and 8.68 dcr.

the cost difference is up there. should i go ahead and get the cometics for the small gain or settle with the stock gasket.

compression is your friend for NA, but with a thin head gasket you might need shorter pushrods

Thumbs up

Damn Stew, didn't know you were still around. I see your into some kind of project.
Is your truck still hauling ***? Same truck I assume.
I look on here from time to time, but hardly see any of the original guys screen names anymore.
I sure miss having a truck to mod on. I have nothing...I mean nothing.....
With me building a house now, all my hobbies went out the door. I fricken hate it. I'm so thinking of buying a lot less of a house now. Some say worry about my hobbies later in life, ****, I want to play while I'm still somewhat young, not old.
I sure envy all you guys that were able to stay into this. I really miss it. I'll be out of the game for a while.
Good luck to you and all you modding junkies!

Jim

i would only be losing .012 so i should be able to keep the 7.400 pushrods i have now.

jim im broke into the 12's N/A last weekend. im not sure if you knew that i swapped a LS1 into the truck too.

any reason to the madness? thats alot of extra change to throw for such minimal gains...the stock gaskets are also more forgiving on the install.
