Default Stock LS3 cam too big for stock LM7?

Newb here. Got an 05 Avalanche that ate a lifter and the cam is no beuno. I've got a buddy that has a stock LS3 cam that he said I could have.

LS3 cam specs 204/211 .551/.525 117lsa

LM7 specs? Not 100% sure on these specs? 190/191 .466/.457 114lsa

I'm mostly concerned about the lift on the cam. Guess I could throw some springs at it too since that will be easy with the heads off. LS6 springs?

Appreciate any advice. Cory

Not worth the money to change everything over to Gen IV timing stuff. Stick with a Gen III LS stuff. If you wanted to stay with something cheap, toss in an LS6 cam and springs.

Ahh, didn't think about the Gen IV being different. Thanks for the response!

Ouch screw that. Might as well buy a real cam if you're going to be spending almost $300. Or pick one up used for like $150.

Its all in how you look at it.. Your truck ,may not be slow, but the ls6 cam is not the best cam in the world. Yes it works good, but for the price of a new one, you can find ones that perform better in the same price range..

I thought about picking up a used LS6 cam and try running it advanced, but then I'm like, "Hey, I could buy a small cam, run it straight up with a new timing chain, and not have to mess with a new timing set, and it will give better results."
