Default Strengthening the 4l60E?

Is there anything you can do to make the 4l60E stronger? I'm going to be doin the 6.0 swap and i plan i sprayin a lot of nitrous. I don't want my tranny to blow right away or anytime for that matter. Is the 4l80E a straight swap as well, or is it worth it? What you guys think?

You can get a lot more power out of that 6.0 than the 5.3, and I have seen a few guys that have done the swap all seem to get the heavier tranny, or you can even get the 4l65e which is stronger and can be built stronger than the 4l60e. It depends on how high output you go! Since you have a regular cab 2wd, your vehicle is much lighter than the average truck, and that 4l60e can handle much more power under our applications due to the lighter weight, it has much less stress to absorb. But if you are going to go like over 550hp, than I would really try to invest into the other transmission. It really bolts up to the 6.0, and then you can just use stock programming on the computer for that setup, without having to get custom tune, or it would be easier to have it tuned also. A slightly built 4l80e can handle more power than a highly built 4l60e, and will probably cost the same in the long run!

The 4l65 has 5 pinion planetaries and a few more unadvertised beefier parts. You can convert your 60e easy.

If you don't want to buy an assembled tranny you can get evrything you need in a kit kds oput toghether.

I have it and love it. 5pinion, sun gears, clutch pack servos, the works.

Just need a little clarification...
The 6.0s come with the 4L60E for example on stock escalades or what have you??

The 4L60E to 4L80E is a direct swap to the 6.0? No modding or anything needed?

Thanks

6.0 2500/2500HD come with the 4L80E. The 1500HD trucks also come with the 4L80E. 6.0 HO have the 4L65E...only 5 pinion planetaries change.

The 4L80E will bolt right up to the 99-00 6.0. The '01+ 4.8/5.3/6.0 need a crank spacer.

I don't think there is that much involved in a 4L80E swap. I think it is blown out of proportion as to the difficultity of it. I mean the 1500HD apparently has the 1500 frame fitted with the 9.5" rear axle and 4L80E so there can't be that much for the swap. Someone with an 1500HD/2500/2500HD needs to take pics of the electical harness to the 4L80E and someone needs to take a pic of the 4L60E harness to compare them.

This will strengthen the tranny the same, as if i were to swap the 4l65? I'm gonna be pushin bout 500rwhp while spraying nitrous. Will that be enough tranny for 500rwhp? $1,300 bucks...dang...anything cheaper i could do?

Yeah a real bulletproof 4l60e will cost you about $2000 to $2200, but on your truck should be able to handle 650lbs of torque, and get pretty good life out of it, especially if you only use your nitrous some of the time!

What about if you just swap to a 4L80E and beef it up real good....but you have stock motor...no serious mods...that tranny will hold up pretty much forever?

What vehicles use a 6.0L HO w/ a 4L65E? Would that be a Denali and/or Escalade?

Here is a spec sheet on the 60/65 and links to the 80/85. The F-body guys are averaging 2k for a good rebuild. Some are cheaper and some are more, just depends on who, where, and what is done.
