I have been looking at the eagle 4.0 crank. I currently have a 6.0 bored 30 over with diamond pistons and eagle rods. The rods are 6.100 length. I guess I would have to get new pistons and rods for the new crank, just wondering if that is true or could I use my current pistons and rods?

You can use the rods but, will need new pistons to match the new crank.

With a 4.0 crank using your stock pistons and rods would not work because they are the correct length for a 3.62 stroke and would hit the head. You need a different pin height.

I can get you the pistons you need for a good price. Just give me a call. They will be a custom if you are going to use 6.100 rods. Everything Diamond has is set up for 6.125 rods w/4.00 stroke crank.

Thanks

Chris, would the 6.1 be better to keep the pins away from the ring?

The 6.1" rods might help keep the pins from the rings then cause clearance problems in the block. You might have to notch the block for clearance.I'd check with someone that has used that stroke and rod combo before.

The 6.100 rods would be able to lower the ring package more but, you would still need to have a oil support rail. In a month or so Diamond is coming out with a inboard pin boss piston which will eliminate the oil support rail. Keep the questons coming.

Thanks
