Default STS dyno numbers-'05 Yukon

We installed an LS6 cam and springs, Walbro 255, 43lb injectors, STS with a Gt-67, fmic, and 8psi. Numbers were better than we expected for the 5.3.

Still have a little to get ironed out in the tune, but I'd say good numbers.
By the way, the truck has 24" wheels.

Not bad!!

I have a similar setup except 6.0 with stock cam. #'s in my sig. That's at 9ppsi, all-wheel-drive dyno, and with Methanol. You'd probably be around where I'm at if you squirt the Meth!

Very nice numbers Billy!

That was dyno'd with the 24's on it?? That's some crazy HP loss right there, the weight alone would kill it let alone the mass being farther from the axle hub!

yes, 24" wheels. We honestly didnt expect to get over 400. You can see by the graph, there is a little left in it.

I tested that "theory" with my Lightning. It had 22's on there when I bought it. I dynod it, then took them off and put the stock rims tires back on, then dynod it again about 45 minutes later. The HP and TQ was within 1-2 either way. Could be other variables but I thought it was a pretty accurate test.

How much are you assuming is lost with bigger rims?

I really don't think any measurable HP is lost with larger diameter wheels. You might see some e.t. variances, but I don't think it will be a HUGE difference on the Dyno.

I think it depends on the dyno being used. Something like the DynoJet might not show as much of a difference which is another reason i think they are pieces of garbage. LOL

As for theory, it's not really. It's a proven fact in physics but how much you'd lose on a high HP car/truck I cannot say. Maybe it's negligable?

dyno jets are great for things like bragging, dyno days, and over all big numbers. would ur favorite happen to be a dynapac? people are so bias with dyno's i dont know what to believe but i do know that what ever dyno an X shop uses is always hands down the best on the market...lol mustang dyno this , dynjet that no way its all about the dynapac. some shops who use to swear by the "road tune" and would preach why the real world drive tunning is a must when they didnt own a dyno but as soon as one was purchased be it a dyno jet, mustang or what ever all of a sudden the dyno is the newest and BEST tunning tool ever!!!!!! LOL.oh btw great numbers billy.

Yeah, I think dynos are not affected as much by wheel/tire combos, especially if there is little to no load preset. Mustang dynos seem to be the closest for theoretical HP/speed times vs real time results, but I do like the "higher" DJ numbers ;-)
The street will tell a completely different story tho, that extra weight and likely taller gearing will play havoc with your 60' times.
