Sts Turbo
OK, I am trying to get the scoop on these rear mounted turbo. I like that their hidden and really very few people would ever notice them since their mounted underneatht the truck. So has anyone used these or known someone who has. Just looking into it for later ideas.

I'll let you know very soon, I'll be installing one on a SS Silvy. We'll be pushing about 10psi , alky kit and some tuning.
I've heard about a couple of camaro guys that were very satisfied with the results.
later,
allen

I just ordered my STS kit with the GT35 turbo upgrade and I got Julio's AlkyControl kit. I'm hoping to get 10-12psi out of it and maybe 480-500rwhp
I'll let you guys know how it works out for sure

is the air temp really that hot going all that way to need injection? people are using the radix and procharger in that range of boost w/o need of alky or water, ok i know they have an intercooler but the sts had like 16 feet of tubing. maybe a small intercooler could be added ?

Alky injection is not needed for their basic 5psi kit. Intake air temps shouldnt be over 100deg unless you are in really hot climate. Start turning up the wick and running 10+psi and the heat increase is exponential. At that point you will want to use a meth injection kit. It is really no big deal and can go a long ways towards making serious power on pump gas.
An intercooler on this kit would work but not as well as meth injection due to the drop in boost and the need to add more boost to compensate.
I have tons of room for an intercooler and like the way they look so if I even thought it would help I would have done it. I'll let ya know how it goes though
The kit isn't cheap. It's $3900 retail. $150 for dual stage boost controller and $250-$400 for a meth injection kit.
There are plenty of people on this board though that will make you a much better deal on the kit.

Ohh, also forgot to mention blowers wont create as hot of an intake charge as turbo due to the simple fact that blowers are nowhere near as hot as a 1500-1700deg turbo. Air passing through the turbo and being squeezed through a 3/4" opening and excelerated picks up a ton of heat. It's not uncommon to see 200+deg air temps right out of the turbo that's why ALL front mount turbo systems require a heat exchanger where not all blower setups do.
