not that its a direct comparison, but the old SB 400's ran a 3.75 stroke and a 4.125 bore and they were plenty reliable.

If we could figure out what the side loads were for that engine using its short connecting rods (what were they? like 5.625 or something there abouts) compared to the 6.125 in our LS motors with 4" stroke/4" bore it might end up quite similiar.

Cept', I don't know how to figure all that out.....but.....it's sounds close to me.

I remember reading a post on this board somewhere that had all the figures posted and that the strokers ended up real close to old sbc's in tolerances. But it was dealing with a destroked LS1....but just putting it all through my head it seems real close on the strokers. I imagine anything that's built mildly should last quite a while. A guy i know locally is running a 415 ci stroked sbc in a daily driver truck. Has about 50K miles on it without hardly any oil comsumption and his only complaint is gas mileage

I'm talking strictly the 4" by 4", if that's what your talking about, sounds about right to me, I would expect a 100K motor.

Ya the 4"x4" is all im really interested in, i think it would be a high mileage motor as well. The sqaured motor has a nice power curve plus without the overbore theres plenty of room to clean up later.
