I think you get less timing removed when you go with a cooler t-stat. Like I said I think, I am not sure about that.

It allows the engine to run cooler which causes the fuel mixture to remain a bit cooler before detonation which can give a slight increase in performance.

onequick5.3, I set my programmer to those settings and on my 1-2 shift I hear some crackling come from below the truck. I don't exactly know what it is making the sound but I think I going to change the shift firmness on the 1-2 shift from +2 to maybe +1. Maybe that will eliminate the crackling sound.

The 1-2 shift is one of the most important shift settings and firmness. The 2-4 band is the band is the transmission that usually burns out. I was doing a lot of downshifts at 30mph when it would rev up real hard and then slam into the next gear. I expect that is what caused the trans to go. I would just plug and play and try to find what works best for your truck. I also had my truck dynoed and we also have the same mods, and came out with the same power. Mine was 255 rwhp with a rcsb 5.3. I would also recommend getting a trans cooler, I bought a Hayden universal, that was rated for motorhomes, and check the trans oil bougt once a week for smell and color.

I'll look into getting a tranny cooler. I know my truck has a factory one but from what I hear it would be better to get an aftermarket cooler too. Yesterday I really wanted a tranny temp gauge to see if it was getting hot. Yeah, I think will try the shift firmness at +1 and if it still is making the noise then 0.

I noticed that you dynoed to the same rwhp as me. That is good to know that it the superchips programmer gives a consistant increase.

Well since the first day of having those settings, the tranny hasn't made those noises since. That still won't sway me from getting a tranny cooler. Thanks again onequick5.3.

One question, did you dyno your truck with the 91+ performance tune? When I dynoed my truck, the programmer was set on the 87 economy tune. I was maybe thinking that I might be putting more hp to the wheels using the performance tune.

I dynoed it using the high performance mode. I suspect that my truck makes a little more power than 255rwhp, there were no fans set up or anything. I got a good deal on the dyno 50 for 3 runs so I got what I paid for.
