Thumbs up Supermaxx Hdr & Magnaflow Exhaust Installed!

Just some of my impressions on the install and performance:

A couple weeks ago when T-Byrne was having the supermaxx special, I joined the bandwagon and ordered a set along with a Magnaflow single exhaust. Yesterday I began the install which took me about 8 hours to complete including the cat back. It wouldn't take a normal person that long, but I had to make two 11 mile trips (each way) to town to get tools that I didn't have (some rachet swivel connectors and a deep well 15mm socket).

Anyhow, the Dynatech's went together without one single problem. Everything fits fine, and the spark plug wires on the #5 & #7 cylinders were easily zip tied away from the headers. However the magnaflow didn't fit right out of the box. The factory welded the hangers at an angle so that they didn't match up with the factory rubber hangers. The front hanger was bent too far toward the rear, and the rear hanger was bent too far towards the front of the vehicle. I had to break out the torch and heat the magnaflow hangers and bend them in the right directions. No big deal.

The first thing I noticed after the install was the deep throaty sound exactly like I wanted. Immediately after the install I couldn't feel any power difference, but that was expected since the computer needed to relearn. Now, after about 145 miles of driving this weekend, it feels MUCH stronger. On this one deserted stretch of road that I do my testing on, I could roast my tires all the way through 1st gear and have it change to second while spinning. Before I would only turn the Kumho's over for about 5' or so! Power has increased all across the board, with no loss that I can tell down low.

I'm sure with tuning to get the A/F ratio right, it would pull even harder. Now I need tuning and a shift kit / servo to get rid of this damn torque management. Then it's cam, pulley, ..............

I just got mine put on too...

I had no problems at all. The passenger side went in incredibly easy.

It took me an hour to get the stupid plug wires out of the way. I had to make little sheet metal tabs to bolt to the heads. Then the passenger side cat's slip-fit connection took me another hour to get lined up right and clamped in. (6.0 system here).

I started at 11am, and finished at 9pm - heated garage, truck on ramps, air tools used only in tight spaces. 30 minute break.

I definitely have a deeper/meaner exhaust note.

Power - I'm scanning from 40-50 ft/lbs more at the engine. The truck definitely gets up and goes quicker... it's especially noticeable for me on the highway. Haven't really jumped on it otherwise.

Marc W, can you tell me how the HP tuner scanner works? So I think that it scans horsepower from the flywheel? So you can scan and tune, adjust and scan again to see if you made more power? Just askin.
