swap from 98 c1500 4.3 to 6.0
any one know how much trouble this is. What will I need? How much of the donor truck is usable? Can I get the oem gauges to work? What about motor mounts, radiators, or any thing else to get it in there and running? Are there any web sites you could suggest? Thanks guys.

Good luck...that's a BIG project.
The swap from the 4.3 to the SBC 5.7 is hard enough on those trucks, swapping a Gen III into an OBS 4.3 truck is ALOT of work.....count on changing EVERYTHING in between the fuel tank and the core support. You CAN get the stock gauges to work but you'll need a custom harness (Speartech), the fuel pump and lines will need changing (Hard line all the way to support the higher fuel pressure). Different motor mounts, different radiator, different suspension...it's ALOT of work
Contact Allen Nelson (FarmTruc on here or www.nelsonperformance.com ) as he has done this swap at leat once on a daily driver.

wow that is alot of work. Thanks for the contact. I've really been turned on to the III gen since we got my wifes ls1 last year. Before that I was thinking of going with the old school chevy motor for my truck. The III gen just seems to make more since (once installed) for looks, daily driving, price (maybe), and closer to being "street legal". Would a carb. intake set up make my install easier?
