Default Swapping a 5.3 off an automatic into a manual truck

Hi, I have a 2002 Silverado 1500 4.3L manual, I just wanted to know exactly what I need to be able to swap a 5.3 off of another truck into it, the other truck was an automatic, I picked up the engine and harness but wanted to know what else was necessary, thanks!

Check the V8 swap sticky. It will basically be the same. I think the manual part is just bolt on and go but I could be wrong

After the swap I'd love to buy the plastic piece on the steering column of the manual behind where the key is. I swapped my column shifter to the floor and where the old shifter was there is an open ugly area. That plastic piece is discontinued and hard to find.

I am in the market for that same plastic piece. I read on some past threads that the trailblazer or s10 will work. Its close but is too short once I found one and installed it. I have looked around on craigslist where junk yards advertise recent vehicles but no luck. Almost tempted to just put a new column in idk. I cant think of anything you will need in the transmission department it should mate right up, but the v8 sticky is best bet for info for sure.

I do want to keep the manual transmission, I just wanted to know what I would have to do, anyone know what I’d have to do with the ecu?

the 01+ 4.8 flywheels work; just ensure your new clutch kit matches your hydraulics (slave cyl quick-connection), and buy a flywheel to match that kit. some had alignment pins, and others didn't - which affects some of the pressure plates bolting flat (if not drilled for the pins... though some are universal & have the holes).

the fuse block (if pulled from an auto's engine harness) likely won't have the purple jumper wire required for the clutch safety switch. just transfer that over from your 4.3 harness, or you won't get a signal to the starter relay when you turn the key.
