Default Switched to a smaller cam and wow I have TQ

Just wanted to post this up. I had been running a MS3 on a 112 lsa from TSP and it ran really good and above 5500 rpms it was a flat out highway monster. But I recently switched to a smaller camshaft because a friend wanted it and I was trying to sell the motor anyways and he gave me his camshaft plus 200 from mine so I figured why not. It is a MTI R1 camsaft, specs are 232/236 575/578 114lsa I think? But wow I guess the ms3 was just too big for the wieght of my truck and the lack of a lower gear ratio because it seemed like this smaller camshaft really woke the truck up. Just wanted to share this with anyone else thinking of goin to a monster camshaft in a truck. Might be worth it to just step a little lower and keep some low end torque. It still lopes really hard too and no mistaking there is something done to the motor.

Imagine what a TR224 would do for low end.

They really arn't a low gear ratio when your running a t56 and a camshaft that doesnt start pulling hard till over 5K rpms and shifting at 6600 rpms.

Im sure I would lose more power up top though and it would actually be slower. I wanted a big camshaft its just the MS3 was a massive camshaft. 237/242 603/609 112 lsa. Also I am running a ls1 not a 5.3 so the camshaft I have now is actually a mild camshaft for a ls1.
