This is exhausting trying to find the best set up. I've had a flow, and like the sound, but don't want to lose HP. I'm going to stay with a single exhaust for now. I'm leaning towards a Spintech. I heard they have both sound and HP gains. The mag's just don't have a great sound, and I don't mind the drone.

Hmm. I just came across this muffler:

http://www.dynomax.com/products/ufx.asp

Its the same as the Magna w/ the X-pipe built in. BUT I am wondering if the Dynomax might sound better than the Magnaflow? I like the idea of ditching 2 mufflers for 1... and its cheaper.... although, 2 spintechs sound like a good idea too!

Anyone know how this Dynomax Ultraflo-X sounds? This looks like it has to flow wayyy better than 2 Flowmaster 40's for sure...

I get no drone with my Corsa, but it's a bit more than your average muffler since its a full catback only.

You've got a custom 1.5" exhaust and you're worried about your mufflers?
(I bet those strobe lights make your truck seem like it's moving in slow motion too...)

Seriously, that Dynomax looks interesting. (but they describe the tone as "aggressive" - is that Dynomax-speak for LOUD?) I wish they'd include the length of the muffler case. I believe it'll affect how loud they are. (i.e., longer = quieter) I know that's the case with Flowmasters. (no pun intended)

Too bad Dynomax doesn't make a stainless steel version of this muffler.

oxidizr: thats some good info right there.... I always knew a chambered muffler couldnt flow for **** compared to a straight thru.

I just ordered the Magnaflow 12599 DI/DO w/ xpipe and Flowmaster (gasp) 3" mandrel bent turndowns.

I will post up if I actually notice any SOTP gains

Hopefully if there isnt any gain in HP, at least it will sound better than that ratty *** tin can sound .. lol

of course a chambered muffler cant flow nearly as well as a straight through... I wasnt saying that at all. All I was saying is that the spintechs do flow better than most if not all chambered type mufflers... Sorry if I didnt explain myself better the first go-round.

My brother had a Flowmaster 40 series on his 2000 Z71 so we unbolted it and bolted it on my truck, it lasted about 15miles.. i couldnt stand the drone and raspy sound.

On my truck i just chopped the stock muffler off and welded this in its place, Then i got rid of the tail pipe that stuck out behind the back tire. so its "dumped" over the axle.

You can tell its not stock but its really quiet. Its not louder than my K&N Intake inside the cab. My buddy wanted one on his 04 Z71, so we ordered it and did the same thing as mine, except he wanted to keep the tail pipe.

It just sounds good!!

When i get the LTs and ORY im goin to get another Magnaflow like this and weld it inline so it will keep it really quiet..
