bgreen - Could you give me a breif but better description of "Ryan's" motor setup that I saw on the Chicago SyTy webiste? Looks like it was one of the ones that RPM had pictured. Just curious as to how it runs and ballpark figure of what was invested in it.

Thanks again.....One day I'll leave you along and stop asking questions.

Ryan's truck is pretty crazy, and is over the top IMO. Bowtie iron block bored a bit big (4.100 or so), oddfire stroker crank (3.55" ? i forget). Total cubes is like 293-300 I believe. He did a dry sump motor as well - as if we needed more crap underhood ! 18 degree Chevy Bowtie heads, single plane intake, etc. Cam is a solid roller, .660" or so I believe. The headers were done by Mike at RPM, for a twin turbo, we created a crossover, did up a flange, so we could run a single turbo - a T76 ball bearing, q trim. Innovative wastegate on the crossover. Computer is a FAST (with oddfire firmware), with 96lb/hr injectors, Weldon pump.

He went a bit nutso on the drivetrain as well. The trans is a 4L80E, with the FAST computer controlling it. NP205 transfercase (old school gear drive unit, cast iron beast, but won't break a sweat at 1000hp). Full 9" rear, Strange components, Detroit locker. It's fun to throw it in 2wd for a burn-out, then flip it into 4wd

After 8 zillion problems (long story), we finally got some passes in this last year. I think he did 11.6 @ 122 or something, running 10psi of boost and short shifting it (computer was set at like 6000rpm shifts or so). That was with 1.8-2.0 60's (more of those problems again). Keep in mind that the truck probably weighs 4200lb +. Has some serious potential once we get it more dialed in & start turning the boost up. With the right turbo, it could make 1000hp IMO. The right turbo would be like an 88 probably. I think we made almost 500rwhp at 10psi, but had to quit since we thought the dyno was having problems (turned out that it was throwing errors due to the fact that the ignition system & dyno pickup not liking each other - typical story considering the past with this truck).

Ryan has a lot of money sunk into the drivetrain. Many custom parts required, a very stout buildup was done on the 4L80E, the computer for the tranny is like $1k, the oddfire computer is like $3500, all custom driveshafts are done. The motor itself, I think could be duplicated for in the range of $10k. Drivetrain - $15-25k, depending on how insane you want to go. Ryan had the means, and was sick of the Syty drivetrain woes. He wanted to build something he could drive on the street, not give up AWD, or his stereo, interior and whatnot. If he wanted a purely 1/4" animal, it could have been done loads cheaper.

lemme know if you want to call me sometime, I can probably relay a lot more info & options than I can by typing and whatnot. Lots of pitfalls to avoid out there in doing a fast Syty.
