With transmission fluid it's not going to cost you anything.

A Dexron/Mercon transmission fluid is a Dexron/Mercon transmission fluid no matter what base stock you use to make it.

As for Eaton not recommending synthetic gear oil.
That is because they never tested any and it's easer for them to say don't use it then run test on any.
I have offered then synthetic gear oil to test and was told just that.

Base stocks don't do much in an oil it's the additives that do the work.

Think of it like baking a cake.
The flower is the base and it's what you put in it that makes the cake.
Just because you use a different flower does not mean the cake will taste different.

If its because they never tested it with synth, why does it say in big letter specifically DO NOT USE SYNTHETIC. I mean if they just didnt know, wouldnt they just not say anything? Seems pretty specific to me...

Not so, this is a false rumor. In theory they can cause tranny to run slightly cooler because of reduced internal friction from internal parts and oil shearing but no because it cools better or absorbs more heat.

Just like Mazda's owners manuals states not to use synthetic oils in the engine. But at the same time state that the oil needs to meet the API SL engine service classification. Ask them why and you will get the same answer. We have not tested synthetic oils in the engines. But the same engine in a Ford you can use a synthetic.

It's easer for them to say don't use it.

Are you trying to say that synthetics don't dissipate heat better that mineral oils?

Just to let everyone know I have a trans temp gage on my truck and when I changed from the factory fill to synthetic ATF I dropped 10 degrees from 195 in stop and go traffic to 185.
