I guess you did not read my post correctly did you? Go read it again. Also bear on mind that it is theoritically possible for the parts to be hotter while oil is cooler because it is absorbing less heat from them.

If you took them a transmission that has synthetic transmission fluid in it do you think they would know?

I read somewhere, (think it was here), that the synthetics are too "slippery" for the 4L60E's...something about not allowing for proper friction surface characteristics. I dunno, the trans is the only place that I stick with the dino stuff, just old school that way I guess. I've got synth everywhere else.

Additives are what provide the lubricity and in the case of a Dexron?mercon fluid the additives are the same in a mineral base ATF and a synthetic ATF
