Just to let everyone know I have a trans temp gage on my truck and when I changed from the factory fill to synthetic ATF I dropped 10 degrees from 195 in stop and go traffic to 185.

I guess you did not read my post correctly did you? Go read it again. Also bear on mind that it is theoritically possible for the parts to be hotter while oil is cooler because it is absorbing less heat from them.

I did not say that they did not anything about transmissions I'm sure they do.

But transmission fluids might be a different thing.

I know of several transmission shops that recommend synthetic transmission fluids.

If you took them a transmission that has synthetic transmission fluid in it do you think they would know?

I read somewhere, (think it was here), that the synthetics are too "slippery" for the 4L60E's...something about not allowing for proper friction surface characteristics. I dunno, the trans is the only place that I stick with the dino stuff, just old school that way I guess. I've got synth everywhere else.

Synthetic base oils are not "slipperer" than a mineral base oil.

Additives are what provide the lubricity and in the case of a Dexron?mercon fluid the additives are the same in a mineral base ATF and a synthetic ATF
