Default Tahoe Electric fans or Pacesetter Headers

I have a 04 GMC RCSB with a 5.3 and 3.42s I bought it new and am not very happy with the porformance I have finished everything else and am now ready for performance parts. I already have a k&n fipk, hp tuners program, and a yank 3000 torque converter (don't really like hard shifts so no shift kit for me). I am also going to do a ls6 cam and springs ( I have a used set bought for 100.00). Everything is going to be installed at once and dyno tuned. I am also considering a 2005 tahoe electric fans or some kind of headers and muffler only ( probably borla i have had before and like it). I know headers and muffler would be alot more power but I am alittle worried about gas millege and i don't won't alot of interior noise ( i have about a 1000 dollars worth of dynamat extreme allready in the truck to kept noise out) I only have so much more money to spend so i don't know if i can afford headers, y pipe and muffler (how much does a custom y pipe cost so i can kept cats in ). Other questions is the truck is lowered about 3.5 in front and about 4.5 in back and has 22's is there going to be any clearence problems with long headers and y pipe. I just want the best for the money. sorry so long thanks

FWIW - when i put the pacesetters and y-pipe on it actually quieted it down. the sound level dropped from the headers getting rid of the drone and rasp. the headers are going to give you more torque which in turn will require less throttle to maintain or increase speed, provided you can keep your foot out of it while enjoying your new found power. i have the e-fans as well and they do provide better cooling control, but not nearly as big a bang for the buck as the headers will be. are you in a state that requires sniffing for emissions, if not use hpt to turn off the rear o2s and get rid of the cats. imho.

Yup headers quieted the drone of the Flowmaster. However in your case it sounds like the 22s are what's killing you.

Neither one of those are going ot be a hugh increase...

Headers- probably 8-15hp
Fans- close to the same

Spend the money on a bigger cam..... You can use the LS6 springs with alot of cams..

Just make sure the lift isnt higher than .550

Go with a COMP 212-218-522-529-114/112 - I gained 28rwhp and 25lbtq

then removed my cats and gained another 22hp and 27ftlbs..

Just my 2 cents

you need headers though if you are going to do a cam. Headers like the pacesetters and a ls6 or similar size cam would give good gains and good drivability. Many are claiming 20rwhp+ w/longtubes given a good tune. Plus, if the cats are not clogged, the most people see is around 5-10 rwhp at the most.

Plus, he would get more of an increase w/headers than he would going a size or two bigger on the cam while not getting worse gas mileage and worse drivability.

Order the offroad y-pipe witht the pacesetters it willb e about 500 bucks for both and they just bolt up. Then get a muffler spliced into the exhaust. I wouldnt mess with the fans right now. The headers will be better bang for the buck. After alot of research I have decided to go with ls1 fans cause they are cheaper and get about the same performance as the 05 fans conversions.

I don't know about the clearence on the Pacesetters, but my Dynatech Supermaxx kit tucks up under the truck nice and doesn't hang down low. This was important to me too, seeing as I am at a 4/6 drop.

It sounds like these are dyno numbers buttttt....22hp from a cat removable...how many miles were on them when you pulled them?????
